Ballymena proved too strong for our senior footballers when taking the spoils in this Division 2 encounter. We were slow to get going and were very soon playing catch up as Ballymena attacks yielded 1-1. However, we halved the deficit with points from Ceavy Slane and Padraig McParland. Ballymena stretched their lead again with a further two points, before Padraig McParland converted a free from near the right side line. Ballymena kicked a further point before a nice break up field involving Ryan Park and Padraig McParland saw Stephen Toner take possession of the ball and he calmly slotted it to the net, leaving us a point adrift. Both teams exchanged further points, with Stephen Toner again on the mark but it was Ballymena who finished the half with two points to lead 1-7 to 1-4.
Ballymena opened the second half with a well taken point before a Chris Rafferty goal bound effort was parried by the Ballymena keeper, the ball fell to the advancing Ceavy Slane who blasted to the net to leave the minimum between the sides. Both teams traded points (Ceavy Slane) before Ballymena took control with four unanswered points to stretch their advantage. Despite further points from Padraig McParland and Aaron Slane, Ballymena finished the stronger to take the win 1-19 to 2-7.
