A point from Sean O’Neill and a David Nugent goal in the first 3 minutes of the game gave us the perfect platform in the game. However, we undid our good work when conceding a goal in the 4th minute. We regrouped and playing good attacking football created several scoring opportunities from both play and frees but we were off target and after 12 minutes Moneyglass levelled with a point. Both teams then traded point for point with Anthony Rowntree and Daniel Largey on target to keep the game tied at 1-3 each. Moneyglass finished the half on the front foot with a brace of points but despite being two points in arrears we were still well in the game.
A Decky Smith point at the start of the second half reduced the deficit but Moneyglass upped the tempo kicking over four unanswered points. We responded with two Aaron Slane converted frees, but we had no answer to the attacking threat from the Moneyglass men in the last 10 minutes. Another point followed by a clinical finish to the back of the net ensured they would take both points and a further point saw them run out deserved winners 2-11 to 1-6.
