The senior footballers lost their first league game of the campaign when going down by six points away to Gortnamóna on Wednesday night.
It wasn’t a great spectacle of football as both teams set up very defensively and even when they did break the line and create scoring opportunities they were guilty of some wayward shooting. We failed to register a score in the first half while Gortnamóna’s tally off three came from a free, a 45 and one from open play. The highlight of the first half was a great save from Liam McGivern as he thwarted a one on one flinging himself to block the goal bound effort.
In the second half, Gortnamóna increased their lead with 2 points before Colm McKee registered a brace of points to get us on the score board. However Gortnamóna kept themselves in front tagging on a few points and a nice Deaglan Mooney point was merely a consolation score, with Gortnamóna taking the honours 0-9 to 0-3.
Scorers: Colm McKee 0-2 and Deaglan Mooney 0-1
