The senior footballers winning streak came to an end at home to Naomh Séamas last Wednesday.
There was no real flow to the game in the first half as both teams cancelled each other out, space was limited and scoring opportunities were hard to come by. At the water break we trailed 0-4 to 0-5 with our points coming from CJ Sullivan, Anthony Rowntree following a powerful run at the Naomh Séamas defence, Michael Connolly after a great pass from Stephen Tully and a Chris Gallagher point from a free on the right side of the pitch. Scores were at a minimum on the restart with both teams only managing another point a piece with Gerard Slane on target after a good passage of possession football to leave us trailing 0-5 to 0-6 at the half time interval.
Naomh Séamas started the second half with positive momentum and started to get the scoreboard ticking over. They tagged on 5 unanswered points, with 3 from frees and 1 from a 45, before we got our first point of the second half a Gerard Slane free. At this stage, we needed a goal to have any chance of getting back into the game and despite creating a few chances the Naomh Séamas held resolute and extended their lead with 1-1 to close out the game. We finished with a consolation point from Jay Park leaving Naomh Séamas the winners 0-7 to 1-13.
