ACFL Div 2 – Mac Dáibhéid 1-14 Naomh Treasa 0-7

The senior footballers maintained their unbeaten start to their league campaign with a comprehensive and dominant display against Naomh Treasa at Páirc Mhic Dháibhéid last night.

We controlled the game from the throw in and played some outstanding, controlled and patient football and gave an exhibition of score taking. By the 15th minute we had opened up a 6 point advantage with scores from Aaron Slane (f), CJ Sullivan 0-2, Jay Maguire, Ceavy Slane and Chris Rafferty. Naomh Treasa could not get any foothold in the game and we continued to push on with an Aaron Slane pointed free and then a somewhat fortuitous goal, also from an Aaron Slane free with the Naomh Treasa defence and goalkeeper misjudging the flight of the ball as it came into the square and it ended up in the back of the net. CJ Sullivan then kicked his 3rd point of the game with Gerard Slane adding a brace of points to give us a commanding lead at the break 1-10 to 0-0.

Naomh Treasa put up a much better display in the second half but the damage had already been done in the first half. While they kicked 0-7 we added points from Padraig McParland, Aaron Slane (45), Gerard Slane and CJ Sullivan, following a stupendous catch in the middle of the pitch by Anthony Rowntree to run out comfortable winners 1-14 to 0-7.

Scorers: Aaron Slane 1-3, CJ Sullivan 0-4, Jay Maguire 0-1, Ceavy Slane 0-1, Chris Rafferty 0-1, Gerard Slane 0-3 and Padraig McParland 0-1.
