The senior footballers now have seven points from a possible eight after an excellent win over Naomh Seosamh, coming from seven points down at half time to win by a goal.
Both teams traded point for point early on with CJ Sullivan (0-2) and Padraig McParland on target to leave the sides tied at 0-3. Naomh Seosamh then tagged on a brace of points while Gerard Slane pointed to keep us in touch. However, Naomh Seosamh then enjoyed their best spell of the game, making good use of the breeze, and opened up a commanding lead as they kicked 1-3 without reply to lead at half time 1-8 to 0-4.
We upped our game from the restart and quickly reduced the deficit with points from Aaron Slane, a free from just inside the 45 and Padraig McParland, before a moment of indecision in the Naomh Seosamh defence was punished when CJ Sullivan lobbed the ball over the keeper to leave two between the sides. Gerard Slane added another point to his tally before Naomh Seosamh scored their first point of the second half. We then pressed the Naomh Seosamh kick out and were rewarded with consecutive points from Gerard Slane to level the game.
Goalkeeper Aaron Slane then edged us into the lead as he made a marauding run forward, received possession and split the points. Anthony Rowntree then fielded a high ball at the edge of the small square and despite being put under pressure, spun round and slotted the ball past the keeper. The final point of the game went to Naomh Seosamh to leave us victors on a score of 2-10 to 1-10.
