The senior footballers picked up their first points of the season when accounting for Naomh Padraig at Kirkwood. The Lisburn side had the advantage of the strong breeze in the first half and quickly used it to open up a 2 point lead. However, we were soon back on level terms when Aaron Slane pointed a free from 50yds and Padraig McParland converted a close range free from an acute angle. Naomh Padraig regained the initiative with two well taken points, before Padraig McParland kicked his second point of the game to reduce the deficit. We defended with great intensity, executed some outstanding tackles and blocks and made it very difficult for Naomh Padraig to use the strong breeze to much advantage and we went in at the break a point in arrears 0-4 to 0-3.
A pointed Naomh Padraig free at the start of the second half doubled their advantage but two points from Padraig McParland got us back on level terms, only for Naomh Padraig to edge a point in front. At this stage we took control, hitting a good patch with Aaron Slane kicking a long range pointed free from a central position, a great hit from Conor Toner allowed Padraig McParland in for another point, good work from Niall McParland, Sean Lindberg and James Lindsay set up Ceavy Slane for a point and Decky Smyth got an excellent long range point from the right side of the pitch. With the clock ticking down a dubious Naomh Padraig point reduced the deficit to two before a long mazy run by Decky Smyth saw him kick the final point of the game to see us deserved winners 0-10 to 0-7.
Scorers: Aaron Slane (0-3), Padraig McParland (0-5), Ceavy Slane (0-1), Decky Smyth (0-2)
