The senior footballers made it two wins in a row with a win away to Pádraig Sárseil at the Bear Pit on Wednesday evening.
Pádraig Sárseil opened the scoring after 2 minutes with a point from a free but Anto McGrattan levelled after picking up a breaking ball and soloing 40 yards before tapping between the sticks. Both teams then traded points from frees with Gerard Slane on target, before young Conor Sullivan split the posts with a shot off the outside of his boot to put us in front at the water break. Despite having plenty of possession Pádraig Sárseil crowded the scoring zone and made it difficult for us to work the ball into scoring positions. Gerard Slane kicked another point from a free but Pádraig Sárseil replied with their third point. Stephen Tully then kicked his first point of the night, when he dropped the shoulder, stepped by his man and finished from 40 yards out. Pádraig Sárseil finished the half with 2 points to level the game at 0-5 a piece.
On the restart both teams traded further points with Anthony Rowntree turning provider for Stephen Tully to add another point before Stephen kicked a long range point from a free. With the teams level at 0-7 we started to run more at the Sárseil defense and as they tired they were guilty of conceding frees which Stephen Tully (0-3) converted to give us a goal advantage. Final points from Anthony Rowntree and Gerard Slane gave us the deserved win on a score of 0-7 to 0-12 and another 2 points.
