There was nothing at stake in this IFC final group game as neither team could progress to the knockout stages of the competition but we still put in a solid performance and ran out convincing winners on a wet and dull evening at Páirc Mac Dáibhéid.
We got off to a flyer with early points from Caolan Park, Gerard Slane, Chris Rafferty and Stephen Tully to take the early initiative. However, Na Sárseil got themselves back into the game when their free taker stepped up to take a free from 25 yards out. As he made contact with the ball his back foot slipped causing him to loose balance but the ball managed to swerve and somehow soared into the roof of the net. Na Sárseil then went in front with two well taken points but we responded well, got into a good rhythm and started to pick off some quality scores. Points from Stephen Tully (0-4), Chris Rafferty (0-3), Gerard Slane (0-2) and Danny Wallace gave us a commanding lead at the break 0-14 to 1-4.
We were well on top in the second half and continued to pick off the scores with Gerard Burns (1-2), Gerard Slane (1-0), David Nugent (1-0), Chris Rafferty (0-1), Caoimhin Slane (0-1), Caolan Park (0-1) and Paul McKinney (0-1) all adding to our tally to leave us winners 3-20 to 1-5.
