Michael Davitt GAC would like to welcome you to our club
website. Our aim is to keep this site regularly updated
with information about all our activities. We hope that
you find this site informative about our club, its past
and what we hope will be, a successful future. Being online
allows our supporters and others, wherever they are, to
follow our various activities.
With the season up and running we would ask all team mentors to promote the use of the club website.
It can be used to publisize the great work being done throughout the club by having fixtures, training times,
match reports/results and photographs readily accessible in one place. If anyone has any club articles of interest
for the website they should contact the club PRO Eugene Gallagher.
The Senior footballers remain unbeaten with a last gasp win against Ballymena last Wednesday night, 2-12 to 2-11.
The result never looked likely as we trailed by eight points at one stage in the second half. Depsite a huge team effort
and playing some great football, the match looked lost when we had a goal disallowed in the closing stages. However, the visitors
made a mess in clearing the resultant free and conceded a penalty. Ciaran O'Riordan stepped up and made no mistake with the
kick to secure the win. On Sunday we have a home tie against Glenravel at Boucher Road with a 2.00pm throw in.
The Senior hurlers have had a busy time with five games recently. In the Ulster Hurling League
we drew with Clonduff, a game which we felt we actually won by a point but then fell to a younger and fitter Carrickmacross
team on a score line of 4-9 to 1-10. They were sharper in key positions and aided by some excellent free taking probably deserved
their victory.
However, in the All County League we have made a promising start with three wins from three. A convincing win over Larne
was followed up with victory over Sarsfields. Played in glorious sunshine on an excellent surface, both teams hit some great scores
over the hour but our greater ability to find the net at crucial times proved decisive and we pulled away for victory. On Wednesdsay
night we kept the momemtum going with a win over St Brigid's at Harlequins. It wasn't the best of nights for hurling and St Brigid's
came out all blazing to make the game difficult for us. This proved the case and we struggled for most of the first half to stamp
any authority on the game. We finally got going early into the second half and despite St Brigid's dogged defense we proved too strong
winning 4-7 to 2-3.
