This was a dress rehearsal for the upcoming Junior B championship clash and was a very competitive match. It was fiercely contested with both teams not giving an inch which resulted in a low scoring first half. We led 1-3 to 0-4 at half time thank to scores from, Don Whelan 1-1, Stephen McGivern 0-1 and a rare point for Anthony Rowntree who must give his brother Michael some credit for the cross field diagonal ball he played him to set up the score.
We pushed on with early points in the second half from Stephen McGivern 0-2 and Colm McKee but as we were just getting on top St Agnes rifled the sliotar to the net to leave two between the sides. Stephen McGivern added a further point following a good solo run from Rory McEvoy and when St Agnes tagged on two points our advantage had been slashed to a single point. However, from this point we upped our game and went on a scoring spree. Colm McKee struck his second point, Don Whelan pointed two frees, Thomas Maguire 0-1, Sean Smith 0-1 and a rasping Stephen McGivern goal saw us secure the points 2-12 to 1-6.
