After their poor showing in the Junior B Hurling Championship, the senior hurlers got back on track with a much improved performance at Milltown to take the points against St Galls in their final league outing of the season.
Both teams put in a tremendous effort which created a close and exciting encounter for the supporters . In a tight first half St Galls led at the break by a single point 0-9 to 0-8. We were on the back foot on the restart as St Galls extended their lead, however, we remained calm and chipped away at their lead to level 0-14 to 1-11. We struck the bitter blow when Cormac Maguire drove the sliotar to the net close to the final whistle which was enough to get us over the winning line.
On the night we had some great performances, but Canice Mooney’s 0-10 deserves special mention. Other scores on the night came from Cormac Maguire 1-2, Rory McEvoy 0-1 and Michael Rowntree 0-1.
