ACHL Div 4 – Loch Mór Dál gCais 2-13 Mac Dáibhéid 3-13

This was a game that could have got away from us, as we held a nine point advantage midway through the second half, only for Loch Mór to stage a comeback and we were hanging on at the end to take the win by three points.

The first half was very competitive with both sides giving it their all and it was Loch Mór who held the advantage courteous of a well taken goal on a score of 1-3 to 0-3 after 16 minutes with our points from Jay Maguire (0-2) and Marcas Toner. However a point from Cormac Maguire and a Jay Maguire goal had us on level terms at the 20th minute (1-4 to 1-4). We upped the momentum, and went on a scoring spree, firing over some well taken points from Jay Maguire, Marcas Toner (0-2), Peter Carleton and Caoimhin Rainey to take a deserved 5 point lead but on the stroke of half time Loch Mór struck their second major to go in trailing by two at the break 2-4 to 1-9.

We controlled the game from the restart and with further scores from Marcas Toner (1-2), and Jay Maguire we put ourselves in a commanding position. Loch Mór responded with a brace of points but a Caoimhin Rainey goal increased our lead to nine with 15 minutes to go. The Loch Mór revival started and they chipped away at the scoreboard adding six points in a row to leave them a goal in arrears with seven minutes of the game left. A long range point from Gearoid Cosgrove gave us the insurance point with the final Loch Mór point leaving us winners by a goal 2-13 to 3-13.
