The past couple of weeks saw both our senior hurlers and footballers exit their respective championships. The senior hurlers were outclassed by a very strong Cushendun outfit at Cushendall in the Junior A championship but credit should be given as they battled hard despite coming out on the wrong side of a heavy defeat.
The senior footballers failed to show any of the promise they displayed in the early part of their league campaign as they were outplayed by Division 1 side Aldergrove at Cargin in the intermediate championship. The game was over as a contest after 15 minutes, as Aldergrove were clinically with their score taking while we failed to impose any threat on their goals with a meagre return of a point over the 60 minutes.
It was also hard luck for our reserve footballers who were beaten by O’Donnells in the final of the Martin Cup at Milltown.
The senior footballers also exited the Beringer Cup at the hands off St Galls. We were very slack in the first half and while the second half was marginally better we left ourselves with too much to do and St Galls were deserving winners.
