The South Antrim footballers continued their fine form in this league encounter at Boucher Road in a high scoring game.We dominated from the outset with Stephen Toner opening the scoring with a well taken point before young David Rossbottom sent a rasping shot passed the helpless St Paul’s keeper. St Pauls got on the scoreboard with a pointed free but we responded with points from Ciaran Corbett and Gerard Burns. Ciaran Corbett then rounded of an excellent flowing move with an low shot to the net and we extended our lead with points Colm McAuley and Gerard Burn’s second of the half. St Paul’s finished strongly scoring three unanswered points to leave the half time score 2-5 to 0-4.
Straight from the restart David Rossbottom got his second goal of the game before a mini St Paul’s revival. They closed the gap to four points as they netted two goals but we responded well and two Liam McGivern 45’s opened the gap to six. A St Paul’s point was followed by scores from Gerard Burns 0-1, Daniel Largy 1-1 and another Liam McGivern long range free to virtually close the game out. St Paul’s scored 1-1 in the closing minutes with Gerard Burns getting the final point of the game to give us the win 4-11 to 3-5.
