The Davitt minors got their second win from three games when accounting for Rossa at Shaws Road. Both teams traded early points with T Kelly, F Kennedy, P McAuley and big Arnie all pointing to take the score to 0-4 each before an A Healy point edged us in front. Defensively we were solid and Rossa struggled to create scoring opportunities but we also failed to take the chances we created. However on the stroke of half time the ball was played into the edge of the square, Arnie took possession and blasted the ball to the back of the net to give us a 1-5 to 0-4 half time lead.
We picked up the tempo in the early part of the second half and added six points, F Kennedy 0-1, B McGovern 0-1, N Maginn 0-1, A Healy 0-2 and P McAuley 0-1 to lead 1-11 to 0-9 and with the way we were playing it appeared we had done enough to win the game. However, credit to Rossa as they staged a comeback in the final 10 minutes as they hit 1-2 without reply to tie the game. At this stage both teams looked for the decisive score to win the game and it came from B McGovern as he stroked over a 21 yard free, the last kick of the game to seal a one point win for the Davitts 1-12 to 1-11.
