The senior footballers picked up their first point of the league campaign in an entertaining draw at home to Tir na Nog last Wednesday at Falls Park.  Tir na Nog were on the front foot early on and established a three point advantage  but an Anto McGrattan point and a Daniel Largey goal edged us in front. We took control of the game and Tir na Nog struggled with the tempo of our game and the volume of players supporting the attack. We were unlucky not to add another goal as Danny Wallace flicked the ball over the keeper’s head only to see it rebound off the post and out to safety. However he was rewarded shortly after as he hit the back of the  net to extend our advantage. A Tir na Nog pointed free was cancelled out by a Daniel Largey point before two further points for the Randalstown men left two between the sides. Young Nathan Maginn then got himself on the scoresheet with a well taken point. The half came to a close with both teams trading pointed frees with Sean McGovern kicking our free.
We stretched our advantage to four points in the second half with Sean McGovern kicking two long range frees but Tir na Nog responded with two points of their own before another Sean McGovern pointed free restored our goal cushion. Tir na Nog levelled the game with a somewhat dubious goal, as their scorer appeared to run at least eight steps before dispatching a fierce shot to the back of the net. With the game level and time up both teams had opportunities to win the game but the final whistle left the sides level 2-7 to 1-10.
