ACFL Division 2 – Dunloy 1-7 Davitts 1-9

Davitts Team v Dunloy 2016The senior footballers picked up their first points of the campaign with a hard earned victory away to Dunloy last Wednesday evening. An accident on the motorway meant we arrived with several minutes to throw in and took to the field without getting a proper warm up and it showed. It was Dunloy who took the initiative, and stormed into an emphatic lead 1-5 to 0-0.  At this stage we were very lack lustre in our play, we had possession of the ball, got into good scoring positions but our decision making let us down. However, we managed to claw our way back into the game when James Lindsay registered our first point which was followed with a decisive run from Sean O’Neill through the Dunloy defense and he duly powered a shot to the back of the Dunloy net. A Dunloy minor saw the half end on a score Dunloy 1-6 Davitts 1-1.

The second half was all one way traffic as we took control. Playing expansive football we got into a rhythm and Dunloy struggled to cope as we kicked eight unanswered points. The scores came from Sean O’Neill, Daniel Largey, Anto McGrattan, Padraig McParland 0-2 Aaron Slane 0-2 and Gerard Burns.  Dunloy’s only response of the half was a closing point to see us the winners Dunloy 1-7 Davitts 1-9.

Next up are Glenravel at the Falls Park on 4 May with a 7.15pm throw-in.
