The senior footballers made it two wins from three games last Wednesday night with victory over Glenravel at the Falls Park.
We had plenty of possession early on but failed to take our scoring opportunities and it was Glenravel who registered the first point of the game. This seemed to ignite the fireworks and our response was immense. Playing high tempo football Glenravel could not contain the onslaught as we attacked from all areas kicking 5 points from Aaron Slane (0-3), Sean O’Neill and Gerard Burns. Both teams then exchanged further points with Danny Wallace getting on the scoreboard. Glenravel then had their best period of the game and added a further two points before Danny Wallace kicked his second of the game to see us hold a three point advantage at the break 0-7 to 0-4.
We upped the tempo further in the second half and blitzed the Glenravel men, kicking ten points to their four. Our points came from Aaron Slane (0-5), Anto McGrattan 0-1, Gerard Burns (0-1), Daniel Largey (0-1), Sean O’Neill (0-1) and Padraig McParland 0-1. If truth were told the winning margin could have been greater if it weren’t for the Glenravel keeper as he pulled of outstanding saves to deny us three goal opportunities.
This was a excellent all round team performance and we will need to maintain this standard of play as our next opponents are St Pauls on Saturday 14 May at the Falls Park with a 5pm throw in.
