The senior footballers came away with a deserved point in this away encounter to Glenavy.
Glenavy took an early two point lead before Aaron Slane kicked a free to get us off the mark. Glenavy kicked a further point before Ryan Park slotted over two great efforts to bring us level. We pushed on and with points from Daniel Largey and Padraig McParland we started to take control. Both teams exchanged points with Aaron Slane kicking over a 45 to maintain our two point advantage but it was Glenavy who finished the half with a flourish as they added three points to lead at half time 0-7 to 0-6.
An Anto McGrattan point levelled the game at the start of the second half but a Glenavy goal put them in the driving seat. However, we showed our credentials and a Aaron Slane point was followed by a Daniel Largey shot to the back of the “biscuit tin” to edge us in front. From their on both teams traded point for point with Aaron Slane kicking another 45 and Padraig McParland getting his second of the game. Glenavy then responded with 2 quick points to lead by one and when Chris Gallagher kept his nerve to kick a pointed free from the right side the sides were level and with time up the referee called a halt to a very entertaining game.
