Davitt’s U12s turn on style at Malone

For the first time this season, the Davitt’s mentors had a full squad to choose from for the League encounter against St Brid’s on Friday evening, and what a bonus that turned out to be. Young Caoilin Kearns played his first game of the campaign folowing his recovery from a nasty hand injury and Shea McRandle and Conor Shannon returned to the panel after missing out on the Championship tie the previous week.Davitts showed their intent from the first whistle and opened up with a goal blitz, Patrick Quinn’s screamer being added to by Dan Wilson and the ever dependable marksman Niall Hughes who grabbed his second hat trick of the season during the game. The first half saw the young Dunville lads play their best and most flowing football this year and further scores were added by Brendan Collins, Tiernan McGreevy and Martin Bradley. Dan Wilson also scored two great points to leave a staggering scoreline of 7-2 to 0-3 against what was by no means a poor St Brid’s team. Indeed, were it not for a very well marshalled defence where Padraig McParland lead by example at centre half, ably assisted by Christopher Gallagher and Caoilin Kearns, it could have been a very different story.This latter point was highlighted in the second half as the St Brid’s team went about restoring some pride which they achieved through an increased effort and some great passages of play. They opened up with a brace of points before Davitts regained an element of control of the game with Caol
