Junior Hurling Championship – Davitts 0-12 St Endas 0-15

The senior hurlers bowed out of the Junior Hurling Championship when going down by a goal to St Endas in a thrilling contest that went right to the wire. If truth be told this was a game that we probably just edged and if we had been a bit more clinical with our finishing we would have progressed.

However defeat does not take away from what was a spirited and committed effort by all. In a tough hard game both teams gave no quarter. Half time saw both sides level at 0-7 with our points coming from Canice Mooney 0-5, Martin Mooney 0-1 and Sean Prenter 0-1.

St Endas took a three point advantage early in the second half before three Canice Mooney points levelled the sides. We then got our noses in front when Sean Prenter got his second point of the game. At this stage we had a few opportunities to increase our lead but unfortunately the chances went begging. St Endas then hit two points without reply only for Sean Prenter to level the game again. Another St Endas point restored their lead but again we came back with a Stephen McGivern point to tie the match going into the last five minutes.

St Endas knocked over three points in a row and despite throwing everything at them in the dying minutes we just failed to get the vital goal that would have taken the match to extra time.

This ends the hurling season and once again we are progressing in the right direction.
