The Falls Park was the setting for this Division 3 clash and with St Brigids not having a Division 1 match they appeared to have fielded a very strong outfit. Both teams got off to good start with each kicking a brace of points with our scores from Liam McGivern and Ryan Rooney. However two St Brigid’s goals  in quick succession put us on the back foot and despite having the lions share of possession we could only add one further point from Collie O’Riordan to leave us trailing at half time 0-3 to 2-2.
St Brigids kicked the first point of the second half but gradually we took a stranglehold on the game and started to control the match. With 5 unanswered points, from Anto McGrattan 0-2, and one each for Liam McGivern, Collie O’Riordan and Ciaran O’Riordan we had reduced the St Brigid’s Lead to a single point. Â Liam McGivern then blasted to the back of the net to put us in front for the first time in the match but as so often happens after getting a goal, a lapse in concentration, a lucky bounce of the ball and St Brigids had rippled the net to restore their lead.
Another St Brigid’s point at this stage put us under severe pressure, particularly with time running out but we didn’t panic, we maintained our composure and with a final effort Gerard Burns kicked three points to leave us deserved winners by the minimum margin. This was by far our best performance of the season. The game was played at a high tempo with both teams giving as good as they got. The highlight of this game was the outstanding high fielding from Collie O’Riordan, in against some tall men he totally out fetched them the whole game.
