The U16 footballers  produced their best performance of the season when beating St Johns at the Falls Park. This win dented St Johns previously unbeaten record and showed what can be achieved with a strong team performance. All over the park we out muscled St Johns with intensity in our defending and tackling while we rounded off  many attacks with well taken scores.
At half time we were well in control as we led 2-6 to 0-5 with the scores coming from M Bradley 1-1, T McGreevey 1-1, A Slane 0-2, C Moreland 0-1 and D Wilson 0-1 however within  five minutes of the restart St Johns had reduced the deficit to a single point. At this point we could have crumbled, but we regained our composure, lifted our game and settled back into playing free flowing football. We re-established our control on the game and with a few minutes to go we held a seven point lead. St Johns finished strongly, tagging on a few points and with the last kick of the game found the net to leave us winners by a goal. Our second half scores came from Coke 1-0, A Slane 0-2, C Mulligan 0-2 and P McParland 0-1.
Everyone played their part in this win, we had great defensive performances from C Slane, N Hughes and C Gallagher, P McParland worked tirelessly in the middle and was helped out by D Wilson, while we had plenty of options and outlets in the forward line with C Park having his best game of the season, T McGreevy, M Bradley and A Slane proving a handful for the St Johns defense and some nice scores from C Mulligan and Coke.
