Consecutive wins for Senior Footballers

The senior footballers will go into their match on Sunday away to St Endas on a high after two good wins in the last week over St Agnes and McDermotts.

The previous Sunday they accounted for St Agnes at Falls Park. A gale blew down the pitch and we opted to play against it in the first half. We controlled the game and had plenty of possession going in at the break 0-5 to 0-3. The second half saw us play a bit more expansive football and we got the just rewards as we went on to win the game comfortably on a score of 3-9 to 0-4. Highlight of the day was Pearse McAuley’s tally of 3-1, while on the scoring front he was ably assisted by Anto McGrattan 0-3, Ryan Park 0-2 and points each for Tony Kelly, from left back, Gerard Burns and Ciaran O’Riordan. This match also saw Caolan Park make his senior debut – well done.

Wednesday night action was also at the Falls Park against local rivals McDermotts.  Again, it was a tight first half and we held a single point advantage going into the break in a low scoring first half 0-4 to 0-3. We upped the tempo of our game in the second half and had a bit more penetration allowing us to extend our lead. McDermotts had a man sent off for a second bookable offence and we used the extra man to good advantage. Three second half goals were the icing on the cake and special mention to Padraig McParland who also made his senior debut, coming on as a second half substitute and finishing with 1-1. The final score saw us run out winners 3-10 to 0-3.
