A goal in the first minute of this Junior Football Championship tie by Liam McGivern set us up for a comprehensive win over Pearses at Rossa Park yesterday evening. We played some nice football at times and kicked some fines scores to take a ten point half time lead 1-10 to 0-3 with our scores coming from Gerard Burns 0-2, Pearse McAuley 0-3, Ciaran O’Riordan 0-1, Anto McGrattan 0-2 and points each from defenders Anthony Rowntree and Tony Kelly.
The second half was a similar affair as we pushed on and increased our lead. Scores from Thomas Toland 0-1, Ciaran O’Riordan 1-2 which included a well taken penalty, Anto McGrattan 0-2, Gerard Burns 0-1 and a Pearse McAuley goal saw us run out convincing winners.
We now progress to the quarter final stages where our opponents will be Ardoyne. This will be a much stiffer test and we now need to continue the hard work at training to ensure we are well prepared.
