The senior footballers put in their best performance of the season and will be hugely disappointed that they didn’t come away with the points against the joint league leaders, Pádraig Sáirseil at the Bear Pit.
We took a 2 point lead after 4 minutes through a pointed free from Chris Gallagher and a Sean O’Neill left footed point. Na Sáirseil got off the mark with a point from a 13 metre free and after a good period of possession, a shot from outside the arc yielded 2 points to put them in front. Chris Gallagher then took advantage of an infringement when the goalkeeper played the ball from a back pass and he duly converted the resultant free to level the game. Na Sáirseil added the next two points before a good run and pass from Conor Toner to CJ Sullivan culminated in a 2 pointer; sides level again. Both teams traded further points on the stroke of half time to go in 0-6 to 0-6 at the break.

We started the second half on the front foot and enjoyed plenty of possession and controlled the game and were rewarded with a Sean O’Neill goal. Chris Gallagher added a point from a 45 and we had opened a deserved 4 point lead. However, despite our dominance it was Na Sáirseil who hit back with 4 consecutive points (2fs) to again level the game. We restored our lead with another Chris Gallagher pointed free and the way we were controlling the ball it definitely looked as if we would see the game out to conclusion. Unfortunately the game changed when Na Sáirseil turned over possession in our half and kicked the equaliser and from the resultant kick out gained possession and worked in for the goal which was ultimately to give them the spoils on a score of 1-11 to 1-8.
