A slow start to this Division 2 encounter saw us on the back foot from the word go. An Aghagallon goal directly from the throw in was quickly followed with three points and at this stage we were in a state of shock. However, credit to the lads as they didn’t panic, they had plenty of possession kicking four unanswered points, two from Padraig McParland and one each for Sean O’Neill and Anto McGrattan but unfortunately at times we failed to find the resultant score or take the right option and at half time found ourselves trailing 1-6 to 0-4.
We enjoyed the better of the early exchanges in the second half with Padraig McParland, Sean O’Neill and Daniel Largey kicking points to reduce the deficit to two. Both teams traded a brace of points with Anto McGrattan getting his second score of the game and Aaron Slane kicking a free. However, the hard work we had put in to fight our way back into the game started to catch up and as we tired Aghagallon regained the initiative as they kicked three points and a goal in the dying minutes before a final Padraig McParland point saw us on the wrong end of the result 2-11 to 0-10.
