With almost a full squad available for this Division 2 encounter we were hoping to get our first win of the season. However, we made a disastrous start and Glenravel, playing with a strong breeze, were gifted a simple finish to get their first goal of the game. Fra McCabe then scored a fine point for us but we continued to make basic mistakes all over the field and Glenravel extended their lead with two further points before Fra got his second point. Glenravel then scored a long range point followed by their second goal which gave then what looked like a comfortable lead 9-2. Collie O’Riordan finished off the half with a point to leave the half time score Davitts 0-3 Glenravel 2-3.Glenravel started the second half well and didn’t seem to have the problems that we had in scoring against the breeze as they rattled off two quick points. However, this seemed to kick start our challenge and we started to play some open and attractive football. Points from Anto McGrattan, and Stephen Toner reduced the deficit but back came Glenarvel with another score.Collie O’Riordan then rounded off a quick move with his second point before a Stephen Toner goal got us back into the game With the score Davitts 1-6 Glenravel 2-6 we fancied our chances but Glenravel hit back straight away to score their third goal of the match and at 15 – 9 looked safe for the points. We did not lie down and points from Martin Mooneyand Stephen Toner followed by an Anto McGrattan goal left a point between the teams but time was running out. We continued to press and we had a few chances to level but unfortunately time ran out leaving Glenravel the winners by the minimum margin.
