The senior footballers got back on the winning trail away to Tir Na nOg on Sunday evening with a single point to spare. While we had been guaranteed a top 6 finish after Gortnamona lost to Moneyglass that afternoon, we wanted to end the first round of games with a win. We played excellent football, taking some fine long range points with the highlight being a Danny Wallace goal (tap in). Â We led at half time 1-7 to 1-2 but Tir Na nOg put in a spirited second half performance as they too were pushing to finish in the top six, but we held firm coming out with a single point victory 1-11 to 2-7 and finishing in fifth position.
The league now splits into Division 2A and 2B and we have our first game in 2A this Saturday night at home to St Endas in the Falls Park at 6pm
