The Senior footballers kept up their promotion aspirations with an emphatic win over promotion rivals
Ardoyne at Twinbrook on Sunday past. We controlled the match from the first whistle creating scoring opportunites while limiting Ardoyne to long range efforts notching 1-5 to no score in the first half. Scores came from Anto McGrattan (1-2), Sean O’Neill (0-1), Sean McGovern, and Joe Kearney (0-1).
Ardoyne opened the second half with a pointed free before a Joe Kearney pile driver rifled to the back of the net to snuff out any thoughts of an Ardoyne comeback. Further points from Stephen Toner, Gerard Burns and Joe Kearney stretched the lead. Ardoyne replied with a brace of frees before Com McAuley slotted over the final point of the game. Joint top scorers were Joe Kearney and Anto McGrattan with 1-2 each.
This was a great all round team performance, our tackling was spot on all over the pitch, we got into scoring positions and shot with conviction and the intensity of our play is what we have been striving for all year. Our next league game is away to league leaders Aldergrove this Sunday with a 5.00pm throw in.
