Antrim Golden Masters B Singles Title for Brady

CroppedStephen Brady overcame Paddy Hesketh from Rossa in the final of the Antrim Golden Masters B Singles at Gortnamona today. Hesketh dominated the match from the start and raced into a 16-0 lead and appeared on course to take the first game. However, Brady slowly got into the game and chipped away at Hesketh’s lead. In a long drawn out game he gradually got closer and closer and managed to tie the scores at 19-19. Hesketh then got his first opportunity to take the game with a winning pass to lead 20-19 but he couldn’t finish the game off. Brady then tied the scores at 20-20 and he too couldn’t find the winning point. Hesketh got another game winning opportunity but Brady got his hand out and closed the game out 21-20, to steal the game.

The impetus was with Brady and with the scores level at 6-6 he pushed on to build a comfortable lead. Despite the best endeavours from Hesketh, Brady kept his nerve and composure to take the second game and the title on a score of 21-14 .
