Antrim Master’s B Singles Title for Kev McParland

Kev McParland took the Antrim Master’s B singles title on Thursday night when he overcame Noel Roberts of Rossa in two games. Kev was on top form and played the game at a high tempo. He didn’t allow Noel to get into his rhythm and when the opportunity arose he took his chances. He won the first game 21-8 and despite Noel’s best efforts in the second, Kev’s high intensity game plan worked out and he took the second game 21-11 to claim the title.

There was also joy for Peter Carleton who triumphed in three games over Connor Hartigan of St Galls at the semi-final stages of the Junior B Singles competition. In an arduous game he came out the victor 21-20, 17-21, 21-16 to progress to the final on Sunday 11 December 2011.

Earlier in the week Kev McParland and Stephen Brady had no joy in the semi-final of the Masters B Doubles going down 21-14, 20-21, 15-21 to the St Paul’s duo of Paddy Nicholl and Ciaran Cooper. The Davitt’s pair served for the game in the second game but the St Paul’s boys dug deep to take the game to the decider and in the tie break they dominated from the start. Despite the Davitt ‘s best efforts the St Paul’s boys finished the stronger to deservedly book their place in the final.
