Davitts 1-12 v Lamh Dhearg 0-2
The Senior Footballers turned in their most impressive performance to date when easily accounting for Lamh Dhearg in this Beringer Cup quarter final. It was also the first time that management had a selection headache with almost a full squad available.
In the first half we bossed the game with controlled passing and movement, creating opportunities for scores. Points from Sean ONeill (0-2), A McGrattan, Stevie Dobbin and Gerard Burns saw us open a five point margin. Any threat that Lamh Dhearg posed was snuffed out in defense by Noel McCleave, Mark McAuley and Gary Nelson but they finally got on the scoreboard on the stroke of half time leaving the score 0-5 to 0-1 in our favour.
The second half was a similar affair and with the introduction of four substitutes and fresh legs we continually bombarded the Lamh Dhearg goal. We notched up a further 1-7 with the highlight a Colm McAuley goal. Lamh Dhearg scored a solitary point in reply.
This was an excellent all round team performance which we will hopefully carry forward to our semi-final encounter with St Paul’s. If we can maintian this level of committment we will have a good chance of progressing to the final.
