The senior footballers progressed to the final of the Beringer Cup for the third year in a row with an enthralling and last ditch win over Rossa at Sarsfields pitch last Friday night. The game went to extra time following a 3-8 to 2-11 tie at the end of normal time. Our scores during normal time came from Jake O’Rawe (1-0), S McGovern (0-1), Collie O’Riordan (2-1), Ciaran O’Riordan (0-2), Gerard Burns (0-3) and Daniel Largey (0-1).
Rossa held a six point advantage at the end of the first period of extra time following a goal and three points scoring spree and there is no doubt they thought they had done enough to see them over the winning line. However, in the second period of extra time we blitzed them with three goals in quick succession, from Jake O’Rawe, Liam McGivern and Collie O’Riordan. Rossa responded with a pointed free but we had done enough to earn a two point success and progress to face Ardoyne in the final.
