Busy time for handballers

With the Ulster Handball Championships and the All-Ireland Seniors commencing it has been a busy time for our club handballers. In the All-Ireland Senior singles Owen McKenna defeated Ciaran Curran 2-1 at St Mellan’s, in Monaghan, to progress to the last 16 of the competition.Young Peter Carleton was unlucky last Friday night when he went down in a tie breaker in the U18 Ulster singles losing 21-19 in the decider. In the Ulster Masters B singles Stephen Brady beat J Treanor of Monaghan 2-0, while Joe Murphy had a walkover when his opponent withdrew from the competition. This gives us three representatives in the quarter finals at St Paul’s this Saturday as Kevin McParland received a bye.Owen McKenna teams up with Sean Devine from St Paul’s, also on Saturday, in the Dalkia All-Ireland Senior Doubles when they travel to Kingscourt to take on Vinny Moran and partner from Mayo at 5.00pm.
