Our U8 (P3/P4) footballers were in action today at Andersonstown Leisure Centre go games. We fielded two teams, one in each group. First up was Rossa A with us running out the victors on a score of 6-0. Our scores came from Kayne 3, Vincent 2 and Stephen 1. Lamh Dearg were next up and we continued our flowing football to win 4-0, the highlight being a great team goal with quick inter passing by Rhea, James Haughey and finished of by Caoimhin. Scores in this game came from Vincent 2, and 1 each for Kayne and Caoimhin. We then played Rossa A again and the score was the same as the first game 6-0. Special mention to Vincent for his long range effort, the goal of the day. He finished the game with 2 was ably assisted by Kayne 2, James Haughey 1, and Caoimhin 1. Lamh Dearg were next up again and this time we won 6-2 with scorers Vincent 4, James Haughey 1, and Stephen 1.
Our first match in the next the group was a lower falls derby against McDermotts where we ran out winners 3-1 – scorers Caoimhin, Vincent and Kayne. Rossa B then gave us our toughest test of the day as we had to come from 2 down to earn a draw. Adam was a colossus in defence, as he displayed his ability in the tackle. The last game of the day was against St Agnes and we ran out 8-0 winners- scorers Kayne 2, Vincent 2, Liam 2, with 1 each for Caoimhin and Stephen. This crop of Davitt’s footballers are showing great promise and it’s exciting to see them develop their skills.
Thanks also to the parents who were there to cheer on the team.
