Handballers reach Ulster Junior Club Final

The handballers have made in through to the Ulster Junior Club Final after beating Clonduff in  a tight affair at Saval. The first game of singles was between Kev McParland and Sean McNally. Sean made a terrific start, causing Kev all sorts of problems racing into a commanding lead. Kev tried hard and slowly chipped away at Sean’s lead. After a lenghty battle Kev tied the score at 19 each before winning on a 21-20 scoreline. The second game was a mirror image of the first. This time Kev raced off to a good start with Sean coming back strongly to win 21-17 to give Clonduff a three point margin.

The doubles pairing saw Anto McGrattan team up with Peter Carleton and their Clonduff opponents were to put up strong resistance. The Davitt pairing triumphed in the first on a score of 21-17 and came from behind to take the second 21-19 to give us a three point cushion going into the final singles match.

Stephen Brady had a tough opening game winning by the minimum margin 21-20  to take a four point lead to the last game. At this stage he upped his game and as his opponent tired he saw the game out 21-2. We now take on Eugene Quinn’s from Armagh, next Saturday also at Saval with a 12.30pm start.
