Davitts 1-13 St Pauls 1-4
The South Antrim footballers recorded their second win from two outings when accounting for St Pauls at Boucher Road last Thursday night.
It was a cold and windy evening and in the first half we had the use of a strong breeze. We used it to our advantage and scores from Patrick Maguire (0-2), Paul Kilpatrick (0-1), Kevin McParland (0-3), Colm McAuley (0-1) and Rory McEvoy (0-1) put us firmly in control 0-8 to 0-0 before St Paul’s registered their first point with a rare attack. We responded with a Liam McGivern point to maintain our eight point lead before disaster struck. St Paul’s sent a high ball into our square and it someone ended up in the back of the net leaving the half time score 0-9 to 1-1.
We were set up for a tough second half against the breeze but from the restart a Paul Kilpatrick goal gave us a comfortable margin and there was never going to any danger of us losing the game. St Paul’s added three second half points but four points in reply; two from Sean Smith and one each for Liam McGivern and Rory McEvoy saw us run out comfortable winners on a score of 1-13 to 1-4.
