ACFL Div 2 – Dun Lathí 2-12 Mac Dáibhéid 0-6

The senior footballers opened their 2024 campaign with an under par performance away to Dun Lathí on Saturday evening. Weather conditions were not conducive to free flowing football with both teams struggling in the opening half to gain any momentum. Scores from open play were at a premium and both teams relied on points from frees and 45s. Although we had the assistance of the wind it was Dunloy who retained possession and used the ball much the better and at half time we trailed 0-5 to 0-3 with our scores from A Slane (0-2fs) and CJ Sullivan.

It was Dun Lathí who were quickest out of the blocks in the second half, enjoying a good opening fifteen minutes as they kicked 2-4 without reply to open up a twelve point advantage. The remainder of the half saw both teams add three further points each with Caoimhin Slane, James Lindsay and Aaron Slane on target and at the final whistle Dun Lathí were deserved winners on a score of 2-12 to 0-6.

Scorers: A Slane 0-3, CJ Sullivan 0-1, C Slane 0-1, J Lindsay 0-1
