ACFL Div 2 – Mac Dáibhéid 3-11 Naomh Seosamh 1-8

The senior footballers got back to winning ways with a convincing home performance against Naomh Seosamh and deservedly took the spoils.

The opening 15 minutes was cat and mouse as both teams tested each other out but courtesy of points from CJ Sullivan and Gerard Slane and then three fisted points from Padraig McParland (0-2) and Jack Scally we held a goal advantage. We extended our advantage with a Gerard Slane pointed free and another point from Padraig McParland but a pointed Naomh Seosamh free was quickly followed by the first goal of the day to reduce our lead to the minimum. However, we were quick to respond and a CJ Sullivan goal restored our four point advantage giving us a half time lead 1-7 to 1-3.

A goal from Anthony Rowntree three minutes into the second half more or less settled the game as a contest. We controlled the game and Naomh Seosamh struggled to make any impact on the game. Another Gerard Slane point from a free, CJ Sullivan’s second goal and points from Jay Maguire (0-2) and Padraig McParland secured an emphatic and deserved nine point win 3-11 to 1-8.
