The senior footballers are still looking for their first win of the season after picking up another draw at home to McDermotts on Wednesday night. Again it was one of those games where we had plenty of possession and created a lot of scoring opportunities but unfortunately we didn’t take our chances.
The Macs got off to a flyer blasting the ball to the net within 30 seconds of the start and when they followed up with two points we were in trouble. However, we gradually took a foot hold in the game and with points from Sean O’Neill, Gerard Burns and Stevie Dobbin we reduced the deficit to two. We had several scoring chances which we failed to take and two pointed Macs frees increased their lead. We finished the half strongly with a Ryan Rooney  point and two converted frees from Gerard Burns to go in at half time a point in arrears. Click here for photos of the game.
Two early points from Ryan Rooney and Ciaran O’Riordan at the start of the second half gave us the lead for the first time in the match  but the Macs responded to regain the advantage. At this stage of the game points were traded with Sean O’Neill 0-2 and Gerard Burns 0-1 to tie the game at 0-11 to 1-8. Both teams looked for the winner but the match finished all square. This Sunday we play Tir na Nog at Boucher Road at 3.00pm still looking for that elusive win which hopefully will kick start our season.
