The senior footballers picked up their first point of the season with a much deserved draw against Sarsfields at Boucher Road. We played for a lot of the game with fourteen men but battled hard making life difficult for the Sarsfield’s men. The first half was low scoring but we were content with the 0-3 to 0-3 scoreline as we were playing against the breeze. Our first half scores came from Liam McGivern, Daniel Largey and Sean O’Neill.
The second half was a replica of the first with limited space for both teams to create opportunities and again scores were kept to a minimum. However despite Sarsfields having the numerical advantage we took a 0-7 to 0-5 lead with points from Sean O’Neill 0-3 (two from side line balls) and 0-1 from Stephen Dobbin. Sarsfields rallied to level with a few minutes left and when they had a man sent off for a second yellow card it was all to play for. Both teams had further chances to win the game but neither could find that elusive point to secure the win.
