The visitors proved too strong for the senior hurlers in this home tie at Páirc Mhic Dháibhéid.
We started well with a long range point from Chris Gallagher and a second from Anthony Rowntree from a tight angle after good support play from Cormac Maguire. However, any thoughts we had of causing an upset were short-lived as Cloiche an Mhuillinn got into their stride and went on a scoring spree. A first half total of 3-7 put us on the back foot and we relied on points from Chris Gallagher (0-4, (0-3f and 1, 65)) and Cormac Maguire to keep the score respectable at the break 0-7 to 3-7.
The second half followed a similar pattern with Cloiche an Mhuillinn tagging on scores, keeping the scoreboard ticking while our pointed scores were merely consolations from Chris Gallagher (0-3f) and Marcas Toner.
This was definitely a game we never got going and at the final whistle had suffered a heavy defeat 0-11 to 6-15.
