This was an enthralling contest between two well matched teams which went down to the wire.
Marcus Toner opened the scoring with a well taken point from distance before Glenravel levelled with a point from a free. A good puck out from Joe McCaffrey found Darach Maher who split the uprights to restore our lead. However, Glenravel got into a better rhythm and rallied with 4 points (2f) in a row. We upped the tempo of our game and responded with points from Don Whelan either side of the score of the game, involving good build up play from Caoimhin Heaney and Peter Carleton and finished by Marcus Toner. Darach Maher then struck his second point of the game to level the game before Don Whelan pointed from distance to give us the lead. Glenravel then drew level and with the last puck of the half converted a free to give them the lead 0-7 to 0-8.
Glenravel got the opening point of the second half but Marcus Toner punished a weak clearance from the Glenravel back line and he flighted the ball back over the bar. Both teams battled intensively to get the upper hand adding to their totals with some well taken points (Don Whelan 0-1, Darach Maher 0-1) to level the game at 0-10 o 0-10. We then hit a barren patch as Glenravel fired over 4 points, before Don Whelan pointed from a free to leave a goal between the sides. Both teams tagged on a point each (Don Whelan) before we were dealt a hammer blow as Glenravel struck a late goal to open up a 6 point advantage. A Don Whelan pile driver was destined for a goal but was flicked over the Glenravel bar for a point and Glenravel had done enough to secure the win 0-13 to 1-15.
