The senior hurlers shipped a heavy defeat away in their latest league encounter.
It is fair to say we were totally outplayed in the first half as Shane Uí Neills raced into a 1-5 to 0-0 lead before we registered points from frees from Chris Gallagher and Stephen McGivern. There was no let up from Shane Uí Neills as they continued to pop over points from all angles and with clinical finishing in front of goals hit the net on two further occasions. Despite points from Chris Gallagher, Stephen McGivern and Cormac Maguire we trailed at the break 3-12 to 0-5.
The second half proved more competitive as we eventually got to grip with the pace of the game. Both teams then traded a brace of points with Stephen McGivern and Marcas Toner on target. We matched the Shane Uí Neill men’s endeavour, upped our scoring and tagged on scores from Stephen McGivern (0-4), Marcas Toner (0-4) Chris Cunningham (1-0) and points from Chris Gallagher and Colm McKee, but the damage had been done in the first half with the Glenarm men running out winners 4-16 to 1-15.
