ACHL Div 4 – Ardoyne 0-7 Davitts 3-14

dsc00904_1572The senior hurlers came away with a convincing win, in the end, against Ardoyne at Cliftonville on Wednesday night. However, our first half performance was a bit lack lustre as we struggled to get into any rhythm, our first touch wasn’t as good as it should have been and we seemed to put ourselves under pressure as we failed to cause Ardoyne any real threat. Despite this we still managed to lead at half time 0-6 to 0-3 with our scores coming from Canice Mooney 0-3, Michael Tuohy, 0-1 Stephen McGivern 0-1 and Paul McGivern 0-1.

The second half was totally different as we settled into a better pattern of play and from the start Ardoyne were under severe pressure. We opened the shoulders and took many fine points and with two goals from Rory McEvoy  and one from Canice Mooney we killed the game off. Points in the second half came from Canice Mooney 0-4, Peter Carleton 0-1, Stephen McGivern 0-1, Martin Mooney 0-1 and Gerry O’Neill 0-1. To see a few photos of the game click here.

Gerard McNally had an excellent game in defense, particularly in the first half when his high fielding got us out of  a few tight spots, while Michael Rowntree put in a good shift in the half back line. Pick of the forwards were Canice Mooney, Rory McEvoy and Stephen McGivern.
