Chris Brady and AntoMcGrattan secured the Junior B Antrim Doubles Handball title last Sunday with an emphatic win over the St Paul’s pairing of Kevin Gamble and Paul Burns. The first game was a tight affair with the St Paul’s duo racing into a 9-1 lead before Chris and Anto steadied their game and played their way back into the game. With well executed shots they forged into a 20-14 lead only for the St Paul’s boys to stage a fight back. At 18 they lost their serve giving the Davitt’s pair the opportunity to serve for the game and this time they got the decisive point to take the game 21-18.

The second game was won in comprehensive fashion on a 21-9 score line clinching the title for the deserved Davitt pairing.

Owen McKenna lost out in his quest for Senior Doubles glory when he partnered Sean Devine, of St Pauls, against Ricky McCann and Seamus O’Tuama. Despite winning a tight first game 21-19, Ricky and Seamus fought back to take the second on a 21-20 score line before securing the title with a 21-14 win in the tie breaker.

Owen will be looking for revenge on Sunday, when he plays Ricky in the rearranged Antrim Senior Singles final at St Paul’s at 4.00pm.

Kevin McParland and Stephen Brady also play this Sunday at St Paul’s in the final of the Masters B Doubles. Their opponents are Kieran O’Hare and Tony Devlin from O’Donnells. This match is scheduled for noon.
