Handball Update

With the Christmas break over the Ulster handball league resumes in what will be a busy period for our handballers. All our teams performed well in their respective divisions prior to the break. The Division 1 team has seen us introduce two of our younger handballers Liam O’Reilly and Peter Carleton. They will get plenty off experience at this level which augers well for their future development. The Division 3 team is very much in contention while the Division 4 team has produced some fine performances notablyin their last game against Queens. We collected five Antrim Handball titles in December. Owen McKenna won the Senior Singles defeating Sean Devine in a tie breaker, Kev McParland teamed up with Gortnamona’s Dominic Marley to win the Masters B Doubles title against the O’Donnell pairing of Ciaran O’Hare and Tony Devlin, while Joe Murphy and Stephen Brady won the the Silver Masters B Doubles title defeating Paddy Roberts of Ardoyne and Paddy Hesketh of Rossa, also in a tie break.Liam O’Reilly added the U18 singles title defeating Aaron Burns of Ardoyne in the final while Joe Murphy won 2-0 in the Silver Masters B final against Paddy Roberts of Ardoyne.Having won these titles the players now go forward to compete in the Ulster Championships.
