Davitt’s snatch second spot with impressive win

The Michaet Davitt Under 12 Footballers rounded off a fine season with a convincing victory in their last League game of the season last Friday. The match against St Brigid’s had been rearranged from July and both teams played their part in a really good sporting affair.As with most games this season, it was the young Davitts team’s ability to convert goal chances that enabled them to take a stronghold on the game. Top scorer for the season, Niall Hughes grabbed an early maximum and when this was followed up by further goals from Daniel Wilson and Martin Bradley, the result was never in doubt.St Brigid’s defended very well in numbers and their midfield competed very well against their Dunville counterparts. however they just didn’t have enough up front against a very steady defence where Chris Gallagher, Caoilin Kearns. Conor Shannon and Adam Donaghy showed up very well. Ryan Sewell also dealt well in goal with a number of high balls that came into the square. To their credit, St Brigids did come back into the game even more in the second half to register a goal and a couple of points. However, as in previous games, when Davitts needed to step up a gear, they duly obliged and further goals from Bradley and Collins put paid to any ideas of a comeback. Davitts rounded off a good performance with a goal from young Craig following an excellent run and pass by Caol
